CALLING ALL PERFORMERS!

Masq(p)arade! seeks Santa Barbara County-based musicians, performers, and performance groups to delight and entertain in a series of 15-minute shows at the Pianos on State painted pianos. Acts must be piano-based and incorporate whimsical masks. Solo or group performers are welcome. A small honorarium will be paid to artists selected to perform.

While all performances must feature a designated Pianos on State painted piano, they may also incorporate other instruments or types of artistry (juggling, dancing, acrobatics, singing, spoken word, performance art, &c.) into the act. Past Masq(p)arade! performances have included flamenco, opera, improv, musical theater, choral music, and even a street brass band!

Performer Entry Form

Masq(p)arade! takes place on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 5:30-8:30pm. All performances must be 15-minutes in length, piano-based, and incorporate whimsical masks. Performances may be solo or in a group. Performances must feature piano, but may also incorporate other instruments or types of artistry. A $75 honorarium will be paid per selected entry. Entrants will be notified of acceptance decisions by September 13, 2024.

All performances must align with our commitment to a family-friendly environment. In order to ensure the event remains inclusive and enjoyable for all attendees, please refrain from using performances as a platform for religious or political advocacy.

I understand that Masq(p)arade! performances must be between 13-15 minutes long and may not exceed 15 minutes in duration.

I understand that Masq(p)arade! participants must incorporate piano into their performance.

I understand that Masq(p)arade! requires that the performers incorporate a mask into their piano-based performances. Masks can be Mardi Gras-style, Hallowe'en masks, or painted on.

Please describe your performance concept in two or three sentences. Include the genre or style in which you will be performing. Please also include information about how you will integrate the piano and (a) mask(s) into your performance.

Please submit a three-minute video sample clip of your proposed performance concept.

I confirm that I am available to perform at Masq(p)arade! on Friday, October 18, 2024, between 5:00pm and 8:30pm. I understand that backing out at the last minute can present significant logistical hurdles for the Masq(p)arade! team.
